The title references the common invocation for us to be patient, as our digital technology downloads data. The works play with the tension between the ‘analogue’ nature of painting and the predominance of the digital, in our culture. A variety of techniques are employed to explore these ideas: references to Hindu proverbs, twentieth century cinema, Shakespeare or nineties home computers can be found in the works, along with post humanoid ‘stooges’ playing ambiguous roles as actants, victims and even escapees from the works. Spray painted networks of antennae and hand painted strips of tape reference the images own creation.
The atmosphere in the works is often anxious or perilous - as these states seem to be the predominant moods cultivated by governments, mainstream media and our online environment. Dom is attempting to create images that are responsive and critical of this culture, without being cynical. His hope is that people will ‘watch’ the paintings, as if they will move when your head turns away…
