Last week we were joined by Finlay Hanson who did some work experience with us. We put him through his paces in various areas of the building including the Craft Gallery, the Coffee Shop, reception, archives and marketing. He really impressed us with his positive, friendly attitude and willingness to take on any task!
"I have had a fantastic week here at The Ropewalk, and I have found it really interesting to get a taste of lots of different jobs within the building. I enjoy history at school and being able to take part in the archiving of the historic documents, along with looking at the old photographs of Barton, has been great for building on my knowledge of the history of the local area. Being able to gain some experience by helping in the Coffee Shop, along with helping out with small tasks in the Craft Gallery, has helped me gain confidence and understanding of how they function. It was also great to watch the performers at the Folkfest at the weekend, which had many people of all ages taking part."
From jugs, bowls, mugs, teapots and ornaments, there are some great ideas for gifts beautifully created by local artists.
