Chasing the Kerala Chakara sheds light on the impact of climate change on traditional fishing communities in Kerala, South India. Based on over 20 years of fieldwork, Beaulah’s watercolour paintings all painted in situ, show the fragile beauty of fishing village life along the Malabar Coast. and contrast with the photographic prints showing its destruction caused by the 300 mile long sea wall.
Featuring portraits of fisherfolk at work on the beaches of villages such as Pallana, Kattoor, and Punnapra, Beaulah’s work reflects the harmony that once existed between people and nature.
Visitors are invited to reflect on how global environmental changes ripple into local lives, culture, and identity.
Chasing the Chakara is a timely, poetic call for awareness and action
