Carolyn Sara is fuelled by her passion for using traditional knitting techniques to create bright and bold accessories, using pure lambswool and merino wool which is spun and dyed in West Yorkshire and Scotland.
Her obsession with knitting began aged eight years when she knitted a stripy scarf for her beloved stuffed toy. Although it wasn’t until studying fashion design at Northumbria University and specialising in knitwear that she truly fell in love with knitting and discovered the endless possibilities a strand of yarn can create.
Carolyn’s Persian heritage has influenced her love for daring colour combinations and geometric patterns. She has always had a fascination with the 1920s, particularly Art Deco architecture, which inspires many of her patterns.
Every piece is made individually and begins as a strand of luxurious yarn, which is knitted row by row on hand powered knitting machines in Carolyn's home studio in Manchester
