Many years ago Hannah Nunn was holding some of her paper cut designs up to the window to enjoy the silhouettes they made and had an 'aha' moment. 'Why don't I make lights?' Seeing a whole range of glowing lamps flash before her! With a research and development grant from Arts Council England Hannah was able to develop a range of parchment lamps with delicate paper cut designs that have now been sold to people all over the world for nearly 25 years.
They were the beginning of Hannah’s career as an artist and as the years went by many more silhouette-based designs were added to her portfolio of products. Hannah now creates a large range of wallpapers, window films, paper cut meadow stems, tiny decorative ‘treasures’ and more.
Living and work in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, Hannah spends a lot of time walking outdoors with a camera. Drawn to the tiny details and always coming back with something in her pocket to draw or something new to learn about.
Each week Hannah writes a newsletter called The Three Somethings writing about something already made, something in the making and something inspiring from nature. Every spring Hannah makes a printed journal of the nature part. It’s a place to share the photographs taken and tell a tale or two.
Hannah’s studio in Hebden Bridge is open to the public once a month. If you’re ever in the area you are more than welcome to pop in and see what Hannah is up to.
