Saturday 4th September Cyanotyping  with Ruth Brown

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

This is an introduction to the wonderful technique of cyanotyping (blueprinting) on fabric. You will learn how to prepare the light sensitive fabric in various ways and will then produce beautiful, subtle prussian blue and white photograms using a variety of plant materials and objects. There will be an additional cost of £5 for materials payable on the day of the workshop.

 

Saturday 2nd October Monoprinting using a Gelatine Plate  with Ruth Brown

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

We will be using gelatine as a flexible printing plate to produce monotypes on fabric or paper (or both if the student wishes). We will be using additive and subtractive methods for creating our designs and will also print with natural forms such as leaves and grasses. There will be an additional cost of £5 -10 for materials payable on the day of the workshop.

 

Saturday 9th October Glass Lightcatchers with Gill Hobson

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

Using a variety of coloured glasses, wire, solder, beads & other objects you will design & create your own unique glass artwork. Participants will be introduced to the basic techniques needed to achieve a beautiful & original finished piece, including, glass cutting, copper foiling, soldering, patination and finishing. Students will be encouraged to experiment & build confidence to create their own unique work.

On completion of this workshop, participants will have been introduced to a range of techniques & outcomes that should enable them to move onto larger creative projects in glass if desired. £25 is payable for cosumables used during the workshop.

 

Saturday 30th October Introduction to Collagraph Prints with Angela Lindsley

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

During this introductory course you will learn the versatile techniques of collagraph printmaking. Printing blocks are produced by cutting, tearing and adding DIY materials. This produces both strong and subtle tones. Once you have prepared your plate you will be shown various inking processes to produce rich and vibrant prints. There will be a small charge of £5 - £7 for materials

 

Saturday 6th November Home Spun Angels with Louise Presley

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

Make the most delightful Angels from the simplest of patterns but with the most beautiful of fabrics and hand finished with love. Create Shaker Style, Peg and Paper Angels that are evocative of times past and that you really won’t want to pack away. Material charges will be £5 per person inclusive. Participants are also welcome to bring any fabrics to incorporate into their designs.

Saturday 20th November Star Lanterns with Kirsty Champ

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

Suitable for all abilities, this workshop is an opportunity to create a lantern from natural materials, withy and tissue.  Participants will learn the basics of construction and can expect to produce 2-3 lanterns of varying sizes and complexity of design, only limited by  imagination! Please bring a pair of secateurs or pliers and a sketchbook / images of ideas you would like to try building. All materials will be provided at no additional cost.

 

Saturday 11th December Bags of Delight with Linda Westerman

10.30am – 4.30pm £30 / £27*

The aim of the day will be to produce a small decorative bag worked in hand embroidery.  The embroidery will be carried out using a mixture of unusual threads and fabric.  Machine embroidery can be incorporated but a machine is not essential.  The workshop is suitable for all abilities.

A small pack of items will be provided at a cost of £1.50, to include painted canvas, string and beads.

 

Additional Information

Lunch is not included in the cost of our workshops, however our licensed Ropery coffee shop offers a delicious range of daily specials and home made cakes and refreshments. Lunch orders will be taken at the start of the day or alternatively you may bring a packed lunch.

All Classes / workshops must be booked and paid for in full in advance. Payments will not be refunded if a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to the workshop/class. Cancellations made before this 14-day period will be due a refund less a £5 booking fee.

If you have any special access or equipment needs please let us know so that we can make any necessary arrangements to accommodate this.
